FIT TO TRAIN clinicians with training in Osteopathic Manual Practice evaluate and analyze the musculoskeletal, visceral, circulatory, neurological and cranial systems. They will use their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and precision of gentle palpation to evaluate and treat the primary causes of dysfunction.

In most cases the patient has had many factors such as past injury, illness, stress and the chronicity of daily living contribute to their complaint. The result of these factors may manifest themselves locally in the body, or more frequently the symptoms are experienced far from the site of the original site of occurrence.

The Osteopathic Manual Practitioner assesses the whole body.Although treatment may be directed toward several specific areas, the effect of that treatment is often felt throughout the body.It is for this reason that the Osteopathic Manual Practitioner is also said to treat the whole body.

Acupuncture is a form of Chinese medicine that has been around for over 2500 years. The technique involves inserting a solid, stainless steel, single-use acupuncture needle into the skin at specific points to achieve a therapeutic effect. Nothing is injected.

Acupuncture points are located on the skin where there is a lower resistance to the passage of electricity. Most are found along ‘channels’ or ‘meridians’ that have been mapped for centuries by the Chinese. The meridians are believed to be pathways that allow energy to flow throughout the body. These points can be landmarked and needled on each individual based on their body proportions.

The needles are very fine, flexible and “atraumatic”, meaning they do not have a cutting edge, but instead slide smoothly through tissues. When the needle is inserted, there often is a deep, heavy or aching sensation, which in Chinese medicine is called, Qi (pronounced ‘chee’). The needles are left in place for 15-30 minutes. Acupuncture is used to reduce, relieve or improve pain.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Human Nutritional Sciences from the University of Manitoba, where my senior thesis ignited my fascination with the body’s remarkable capacity for self-healing. I earned my diploma from the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine and subsequently became a licensed Naturopathic Physician.

My passion for helping individuals achieve their fullest potential has led me to focus on key areas of healthcare, including women’s health, autoimmune diseases, and athletic performance optimization.

My approach to Naturopathic Medicine places a strong emphasis on preventative strategies for daily well-being and lifelong health. What truly captivates me about this profession is the opportunity to dedicate ample time to thoroughly understand our patients’ concerns. By leveraging an array of diagnostic techniques and comprehensive testing, Naturopathic Physicians like myself are committed to identifying the root causes of diseases rather than merely addressing symptoms. I firmly believe that by cultivating intention in our daily behaviours, we can enhance our health not only for the present but for the years ahead.

When I’m not in the office, you can find me enjoying the great outdoors, whether it’s hiking, skiing, cycling, or simply playing fetch with my loyal canine companion. My perfect day often involves a refreshing trail run followed by a rejuvenating dip in the ocean.
